Special Care Green Baby Clothing
Just like our environment AND our babies - special care makes all the difference! - TURN GARMENT INSIDE OUT - MACHINE WASH COLD - HANG TO DRY Cloth Diapers *WASH BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME* When diaper is soiled, shake any excess into toilet, unstuff and place in a pail. We do not suggest you leave diapers in a pail with water as the smell seems to stay in the diaper. Wash diapers every other day or as supply allows. Use your pre-soak setting first with a small amount of detergent and hot water only. Then use a normal wash setting of hot wash, cold rinse, again with a small amount of soap. DO NOT use fabric softeners with cloth diapers as this will break down the waterproof aspect and will cause build up on the diaper. This will affect the way the diaper retains wetness. Once a week add a cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle. White Vinegar naturally breaks down uric acid and soapy residue. The acid in white vinegar is too mild to harm fabrics, yet strong enough to dissolve the alkalies in soaps and detergents. It also prevents yellowing, acts as a fabric softener and static cling reducer, and attacks mold and mildew. Vinegar can be added to your final stripping rinse to remove the last of the detergent residue and to soften your cloth diapers. Don't worry, your diapers won't smell like vinegar after they're dry! If you find you need to strip the diapers because of smell, add 1/2 to 1 cup of baking soda to the wash cycle to neutralize and eliminate odors. Then rinse until there are no more bubbles. Baking soda natural effect is to balance pH, keeping things neither too acidic nor too alkaline, and it resists further changes in the pH balance. These diapers can be hung to dry or be put in the dryer. |
